e 3732 Canada: Blocks: I am a sculptor looking for are deemed 'carving stones' or less then 5 on the hardness scale. Marble is usually at the 5-6 levels and white marble or alabaster is what I am particularly looking for. Size from 5lbs to 500lb pieces. In general though I am interest in trying anything new or different in the less than 5 hardness area.
I would prefer Canadian suppliers/distributors (I have had my fill of the so-called 'Free-trade' through customs).
Over the past ten years I have used mostly Brazilian Soapstone (high talc content). I am interested in seeing what else is out there within Canada. Aug 6, Contact

Offer 7: I do not know what scale of hardness you use. According Mohs hardness all marbles and limestones, travertines are under 5. Calcite marbles, limestones are about 3, dolomitic marbles over 3 up to 4,
alabaster about 2. You have large choice of materials. You must specify your priority.

Offer 6: hi we sell landscape stone but resently discovered a large deposit of soap stone part of this deposit has a very nice dark green serpentine we have some large stones it is harder then soapstone but can be cut with a hand saw we are located in BC

Offer 5: I don't have blocks for sculpting but the sculptor should be informed he's wrong in his hardness figures: calcitic marble has a hardness of 3 and dolomitic marble 3.5 to 4, perhaps 5 if it contains serpentine. Soapstone and alabaster have hardnesses of 1 and 2 respectively; they don't get any softer than this.
