Onyx , variety of travertine consisting
of calcium carbonate (Calcite or Aragonite) with impurities causing it to exhibit
color banding.
Onyx marble as mostly called can be found in Greece, Iran, Mexico and Pakistan.
Most of the onyx types are translucent up to a thickness of 10-12 cm. Is used
mostly in wall coverings and is rather expensive
